Clarence J. Peiper went to be with our Lord and Heavenly Savior at home, surrounded by loving family, on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Clarence was a 1955 Graduate of Boiling Springs High School and went on to graduate from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1959. In 1959, he was hired by Thurmont High School, where he taught commercial subjects for the Frederick County School system until 1965. He then worked for BP and Sinclair Oil as a Retail Supervisor for six distribution centers. In 1970, he was hired by C.F. Stouter Oil Company, Emmitsburg, Maryland, as the Vice President and General Manager of the company. In 1976, he was asked to return home to Carlisle and manage Ralph Peiper Auto Parts. In 1990, he became the owner and manager of Lube N Go, located on Parker Street in Carlisle, until he retired at the age of 69.
In addition to his work career, Clarence had a strong civic duty and enjoyed volunteering his time to numerous community organizations over the years, including Thurmont Jaycees, Thurmont PTA at Thurmont High School, Thurmont Cub Scouts Pack 168, The West Pennsboro Fire Company, Cumberland Valley Sportsman Association, and the Yellow Breeches Anglers. He was a key contributor to the startup of the South Mountain Dragway and was a member of the Quarter Aces Car Club.
Clarence had deep faith and was a long-time member of the Opossum Hill Union Church in Carlisle. Over the years Clarence was a good neighbor, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was always quick to help anyone in need. His kindness, quick humor, smile and good nature will be missed by all those who knew him.
Clarence is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Ann Peiper.
He is survived by three sons: Lawerence Peiper and wife Terry, Mark Peiper and wife Carole, both of Tennessee and Daniel Peiper and wife Judy of Carlisle; his beloved sister- in- law Orca Kuhn of Carlisle; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 10 to 11 am, followed by a service at 11 am to be officiated by Pastor Randy Zook at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. Interment will follow the service in Opossum Hill Cemetery.
