Claire Beadon Carnell

Claire Beadon Carnell, age 71, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at her residence with her daughter by her side. Claire was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend who will live on in our memories through her vibrant paintings that captured the beauty of landscapes and lush gardens. 

Born November 17, 1954 in Van Nuys, California, daughter of the late Charles & Doris Beadon, and was the widow of Conard B. Carnell, who passed on November 28, 2023.

Claire owned and operated the Pine School Studio, where she taught oil painting and drawing classes to adults and young adults. She has always had an interest in art, and after starting college as a Biology major, she eventually went on to graduate from Shippensburg University cum laude with a B.A. in Art and English. She began painting in 1981 and learned some of her most valuable lessons from her teacher and mentor, Chambersburg artist Wilma Leatherman Shearer. “I have always found nature to be an endless source of renewal and inspiration,” she says. “Each piece of art that I create involves my own spiritual search for the beauty and serenity that exist in contrast to an ever-changing, increasingly complicated world.” Claire was a member of Oil Painters of America and Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters. Her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections across the continental United States and Europe; they have won numerous awards in both juried and open competition.

She is survived by a daughter, Amanda (husband Michael) Kistler of Carlisle; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Madeline, and Stevie Kistler.  

A Celebration of Life for Claire will be held at Amanda's residence located at 502 Burnt House Road, Carlisle on August 11, 2026 at 3pm.
