Charles L. "Butch" Wallace

Charles L. “Butch” Wallace, 78, of Carlisle, passed away February 27, 2026, at the Mercy House of Chambersburg.

Born October 22, 1947, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Carl and Geraldine (Hershey) Wallace Sr. He was a graduate of Carlisle High School and was employed for many years at Hempt Farms as a horse trainer before retiring. Butch is a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served in the United States Army. During the time of service, he was awarded several medals including National Defense Service, Good Conduct, Marksman (Rifle), Vietnam Service and the Welcome Home medal from Cumberland County.

Throughout his lifetime, Butch was a member of the American Legion, Carlisle VFW, American Legion Post 101- Carlisle, The Fraternal Order of Eagles #1299, Amvets Post 274 and the Cumberland Valley Classic Car Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending car shows, working on his 1965 Impala and spending time with his granddaughters and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Jane) Wallace; brother, Carl Wallace Jr.; sister, Carol Wallace. He is survived by his son, Matthew Wallace (Heidi); grandchildren, Gabrielle, Rileigh and Brianna Wallace; sister, Evelyn “Sitty” Swartz (Bryan).

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial contribution to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc.
