Carolyn R. McQuillen, 79, of Carlisle, died Sunday, September 14, 2025 at her home.
Born in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Fry) Rhoads and the wife of 57 years to the late Victor McQuillen, who passed away in June of this year.
Carolyn was a 1963 graduate of Carlisle High School then attended Joan Lee Beauty School.
She began a career as tax collector for Dickinson Township in 1988 and was working in that position at the time of her passing. She also drove a school bus for 45 years for Fahrney Bus Company. She also worked at Carlisle Events for many years prior to covid.
Carolyn was a volunteer at the annual Penn Twp. Fireman’s Fair, enjoyed gardening, collecting garden gnomes, traveling, reading and most of all spending time and watching her grandsons play baseball and basketball.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carlisle where she served as an usher, greeter, on the Peanut Butter Egg Ministry, and the Outreach Committee, where she provided home communion.
Carolyn is survived by her sons: Steven McQuillen, Christopher (Amy) McQuillen, both of Carlisle; her grandsons: Ryan and Aiden McQuillen; her brothers: Paul (Ruth Ann) Rhoads, of Carlisle and Bob Rhoads (companion: Mary), of Liverpool, PA as well as her brother-in-law: Dana McQuillen.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, where the family will greet guests after 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.
