Betty Moser

March 11, 1937 — July 27, 2025

Betty Jane “Betz” Moser, affectionately known to many as “MomMom”, passed away in her home on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 88, with her loving family by her side.

She was born March ll, 1937, in Landsdale, PA to the late Roy B. and Alma Viola (Reeser) Ludwig, and was the wife of the late Raymond E. Moser (who passed away in 2017), to whom she was lovingly married to for over 60 years. She is survived by her two daughters Karen C. Ponzar (and husband Jerry) and Sharon A. Diehl (and husband Rodger) and her granddaughter Skylar R. Diehl, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Ludwig, and her sister Ella Mae McLaughlin.

Betty graduated in 1955 from Carlisle High School. Following graduation, she was employed in the secretarial field in various offices in Carlisle before meeting the love of her life, Raymond, who was stationed at the Carlisle Army War College. They married in 1956 and lived in Pittsburgh, PA for awhile before moving back to Carlisle. They had 2 beautiful daughters together, Karen and Sharon, who were the loves of their lives. In 2001 they were blessed with a granddaughter, Skylar, who quickly became their pride and joy.

To all who were lucky enough to know Betty knew she had a quiet demeanor, but also a fierce love for her family and a heart of gold. MomMom was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and would do anything for her family. She was cherished by her family for her love and willingness to do anything for them, and their friends, at the drop of a hat.

Betty had a tremendous love of music, having played piano for many years. She had a special talent of playing by ear and could easily tap out a tune without hesitation. She was overjoyed to discover her granddaughter Skylar inherited that love of music, who now plays both piano and flute. She was Skylar’s biggest fan, and would never miss a single opportunity to watch her perform. Betty loved bowling, having participated in a Carlisle league with her daughter Sharon for many years. She was nicknamed “9-pin Betty” as she worked so hard to get that strike, but couldn’t always quite get them!

She loved spending time with her family, especially the annual vacation to Ocean City, Maryland. She was a daring one, participating in parasailing, hang gliding, sailboating, and riding speedboats while on vacation. For her birthday one year, she was treated to a hot air ballon ride which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved watching military air shows, and it brought such joy to her when several jet fighter planes would fly over her home periodically.

Her compassion for animals, especially dogs, was heartwarming. She was the best ‘dog mom’ to her furry family members, Bridget and Misty, and to her granddogs Bandit and Melody. In fact, one of the highlights of her travels to Alaska was riding in an Iditarod sled pulled by husky dogs.

Having been born in the Philadelphia area, Betty was a Philly fan, and it was always entertaining to watch the friendly rivalry between her and Raymond as he was a die hard Pittsburgh fan. Raymond introduced her to the sport of hockey some time ago, and in recent years she and her 3 girls became avid Hershey Bear fans and enjoyed attending many games, including the 2024 Championship game when they won the Calder Cup.

Betty was a hard worker throughout her life and continued to maintain her 2-acre home until God called her home. She will be missed by many, but especially by her family who loved her so very much. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family and are being arranged by Hoffman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty’s honor may be made to Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue, PO Box 896, Rolla, ND 58367.
