Betty Lou Harper

September 4, 1949 — May 6, 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Lou Harper, a devoted mother and grandmother. Born on September 4, 1949, in Lewistown, Betty peacefully departed this life on May 6, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by the warmth of her family’s love.

Betty was a woman of warmth, grace, and quiet strength. She devoted her life to caring for others, offering kindness freely, and putting the needs of others before her own. After retiring from the Carlisle Area School District in 2013, Betty enjoyed spending her time with paramour, John Wilkinson as well as playing cards, and watching game shows on television. She cherished time spent with loved ones, while sharing stories and memories of past years. Her mischievous smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all that knew her.

She was a devoted parter, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. Her greatest happiness came from the people she loved, and she leaves behind a legacy of generosity, resilience, and enduring love.

Betty is survived by her devoted children, daughter, Bobbie Jo (Harper) Carey of Carlisle, son, Jerry Harper of St. Petersburg, FL, grandson, Dashawn Devonshire of Carlisle, grandson, Reece Harper and granddaughter Vivienne Harper, both of Lititz, PA. She was preceded in death by partner of 48 years, John Wilkinson, as well as two brothers Randy and Donald Harper, and two sisters, Norma (Harper) Dobson and Phyllis Reese.

Betty’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all their care and compassion for Betty during her stay with them.

There will be no memorial services at this time, a private celebration of life gathering will be planned by her children in the near future.
