Barbara Ann Kissinger

Barbara A. Kissinger, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, March 29 at UPMC Carlisle Hospital at the age of 89. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Mary Elizabeth (Geasey) Berry. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph D. Kissinger, Jr.

She was a Class of 1956 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College, earning her Bachelor of Science in education. Her keen interest in environmental issues led her to volunteer for several environmental organizations and nature centers. She also enjoyed genealogy and family history, along with traveling, photography, and crafts.

Surviving are her son Robert Kissinger (wife Gwen) of Mechanicsburg, and a daughter Janine Moss of Newtown, Bucks County. One sister, Carole Rush, of Bethlehem, PA also survives her in addition to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Rd, Bristol, PA 19007. Alternatively, memorial contributions may be sent in Barbara’s name to the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art, 176 Water Company Road, Millersburg, PA 17061.
