Avdo Dedic, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, October 27 at UPMC Carlisle Hospital at the age of 71. Born August 18, 1952 in Skugrici, Vlasenica, Bosnia, he was the son of the late Dzemila (Avdic) and Serif Dedic. He was the beloved husband of Hamsa (Jasarevic) Dedic.
Over the years, Avdo worked in the clothing distribution industry, but friends and family who knew him best appreciated his caring, honest, and kindhearted demeanor as well as his positive outlook. Having worked in construction in Bosnia prior to immigrating to the United States in the mid-1990’s, those who knew him also appreciated the proficiency of his handiwork.
Avdo was a member of the Bosnian Islamic Cultural Center (BICC) of Carlisle.
Surviving with his wife Hamsa are a daughter Emina Trionfi (husband Aaron) of Ashburn, VA; sons Damir Dedic (wife Adila), of Carlisle, and Senad Dedic of Fairfax, VA. He is also survived by three brothers, Dzemail, Emir, and Semsudin Dedic, all of Carlisle; and two sisters, Semsa Hrnjic, of Carlisle and Dzema Mehmedovic, of Columbia, MD. Four grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dzemil Dedic.
Private services and interment in BICC Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Avdo’s memory to the Bosnian Islamic Cultural Center of Carlisle, 648 Alexander Spring Rd, Carlisle, PA 17015.
