April (Thulin) Butts

April (Thulin) Butts was born 2 December 1950 in Paterson, New Jersey to Marian DeSutter Thulin and Arthur Emil Thulin. She attended Public School 25 in Paterson, Eastside High School in Paterson and Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque, NJ. She graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and Public Health. She worked for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals in Suffern, NY until her marriage to Kent Hughes Butts in 1973. Following her military husband around the globe, she was finally able to obtain a Master of Science degree in Community Mental Health from CW Post College, Long Island University in 1983. She lived an adventurous life being assigned to Germany, several African nations and finally to the US Army War College.

April was the perfect companion for Kent when serving abroad as her educational background was used to help people all over the world. She built friendships beyond our borders that enriched her life. Settling in Central PA gave her the opportunity to use her trusted administrative skills in healthcare and build professional relationships. April volunteered with the American Red Cross during her retirement for six years.

She died on 5 December 2023 from complications due to cancer. She is survived by her brother, Glenn from Galloway, NJ. May She rest in peace.
