Alice Schoffstall

Alice Elizabeth Schoffstall, age 91, of Newville, PA passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Claremont Nursing and Rehab in Carlisle, PA.

She was born February 16, 1934 to the late Sanford and Vergie Rae (Thomas) Weaver.

Alice retired from Carlisle Hospital as an O.R. Nurses Aide after 30 years of service where she won the Lucille D. Oliver Nursing Award in 1990. Prior to that, she spent 20 years as a homemaker and raising her 3 boys and 3 girls. She enjoyed sewing, antiques, camping and family trips to area caverns and flea markets with her late husband of 67 years, Charles Leroy Schoffstall. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Carlisle. Alice had a tremendous love for her husband and family. She especially enjoyed the Sundays spent with the family at the Gettysburg Battlefield for family picnics at Spanglers Spring in The Meadow on a blanket.

Surviving Alice are sons: Ellis D. Schoffstall of Guatemala, Guam; Galen C. Schoffstall of Newville, PA and James E. Schoffstall (Heather) of Lynchburg, VA; three daughters, Patricia L. Strickler (Steve) of Centre Hall, PA; Vicki M. Luckenbaugh (Barry) of Shermans Dale, PA and Donna K. Wilson (Roy) of Carlisle, PA; two sisters; Joycelyn Taylor of Biglerville, PA and Addie Hess of York Springs, PA; one brother; Peter Weaver of Biglerville, PA; sister-in-law Lois Wiegle of Heidlersburg, PA and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, four brothers, one sister and an infant great-granddaughter, Kayla Hetrick.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
