Wilbur L. Bender Jr.

Wilbur Leroy Bender, Jr., 78, of Carlisle died Oct. 20, 2013 at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.

Born Sept. 7, 1935 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Wilbur Leroy Sr. and Berdilla Steigleman Bender.

He retired from Kinney Shoe, Carlisle and worked at the Carlisle Theater and Reynolds Real Time Theater, Carlisle Barricks.

Surviving are three nieces, Kathy Smith (and husband, Douglas) of Newville, Della Bender of Carlisle, and Linda Forsythe of Gardners; one nephew, William Bender, Jr. of Carlisle; and two great-nephews, Nathaniel and Jonathan Smith. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Robert, Samuel, Catherine, Beulah, and William; and one nephew, Roy Bender.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct.24, at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell. Burial will be in Plainfield Church of God Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
