Virginia L. Keener, 66, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born October 7, 1944 in Paxinos, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Blee Burkland.
Virginia was a member of Saint Matthews United Church of Christ, Carlisle Springs. She served as administrator of housing in various area locations and was currently employed by Tri-Boro Construction Supplies as a receptionist. Ginny devoted her life to spending time with her family, the most important aspect of her life.
Surviving are her husband, Paul A. Keener of Carlisle; one son, Jeffrey Nevius of Catawissa; two daughters, Lauren Stilwell (and husband, Steve) of Hughesville and Miki Swank-Leach (and husband, Brian) of Milton; two step-sons, Paul Keener, Jr. (and wife, Laura) of Millerstown and Jamie Keener (and wife, Stephanie) of Blakeslee; one step-daughter, Ann Wise of Camp Hill; two sisters, Peggy Thompson of Manchester, NY and Jeannie Morris of Danville; one brother, Larry Burkland (and wife, Diane) of Mifflinburg; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held, 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Carlisle Springs with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Dugan officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews United Church of Christ, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17013, in memory of Ginny or to the American Cancer Society, 3211 North Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
