Victor J. “Popâ€Â Madison, 84, of Carlisle, died February 12, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 28, 1928 to the late Richard R. Madison Sr. and Bertha (Monismith) Madison.
Victor was a very talented mechanical engineer. He was employed by both Reeves Hoffman and GS Electric. After retirement, he continued to work as a consultant with Madison and Sons Construction. He held this position until shortly after his 82nd birthday, reporting to work almost every day.
Victor loved to hunt, golf, and spend time outdoors, but his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He could be found in the dugout keeping score at baseball games, on the sidelines at CV football and wrestling, or traveling in the motor home with the whole family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Adele (Smith) Madison; daughters, Vicki L. Elkins and husband, Rob of Boise, Idaho; Kitty A. Vogelsong and husband, Bobby of Carlisle; son Dirk J. Madison and wife, Babette (McLaughlin) Madison of Carlisle; brother, Ronald W. Madison and partner, Deb Swarner of Carlisle; grandsons, Jesse L. Palmer and wife, Jessica (Hollenbaugh) Palmer of Carlisle; Dusty L. Elkins of Boise, Idaho; Cody J. Madison, Connor L. Madison, and Colton S. Madison, all of Carlisle; granddaughters, Stacey L. Grimes and husband, Tony of Carlisle; Kori A. Elkins of Virginia Beach; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jesse, Zane, Brady, Pierson, Huntier, all of Carlisle, and Madison Rose of Virginia Beach; sister-in-law, Iona “Sparkeyâ€Â Quigley of Mifflintown, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Kissinger and Mary Wilson, his brother Richard Madison Jr., and nephew Michael P. Quigley.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Jon A. Black officiating. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
