Ursula M. Gitt, or “Grandma Gitt” as she was lovingly called by all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Friday, October 21, 2022, at her residence at Covenant Living of Colorado, Westminster, CO.
Ursula was born July 11, 1934, in Berlin, Germany. In 1953 she met, fell in love with, and married Creedin S. Gitt of Carlisle, PA, who was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in West Germany as part of the post-war occupying forces. Together for 44 years they enjoyed traveling the world with their family and friends.
Upon the passing of her husband Creedin in 1997, Ursula relocated to Colorado to be closer to her family and the grandchildren she cherished. She is survived by a son, Dennis L. Gitt and his wife Barbara of Bigfork, MT, and a daughter, Diane E. Haligas and her husband Larry of Arvada, CO, and three grandchildren: Ryan S. Haligas and his wife Jamie of Arvada, CO, Adam S. Haligas and his wife Jackie of Denver, CO, and Lindsey A. Haligas of Broomfield, CO.
During her years in Colorado Ursula made many friends and was loved by all who knew her. She was a volunteer at the Lutheran Medical Center gift shop for over 10 years and was also an active volunteer at Covenant Living. Ursula always had a beautiful smile and a positive attitude. The cup was always “half full” for Ursula and she had endless love for her family, especially her grandchildren.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Ursula’s name to the Employee Appreciation Fund of Covenant Living of Colorado. Ursula received loving care from the assisted living and skilled nursing staff and the family appreciates also the support given to them during her last months. Donations can be mailed to: CLCO Business Office, 9153 Yarrow St., Westminster, CO 80021. Please Make checks payable to “RAC” and note “EAF-Ursula Gitt Donation” on the memo line.
The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Rocky Mountain Senior Care for their care of Ursula over the past several years and to Elevation Hospice as they stepped in to help
Ursula and her family over the last difficult months.
Ursula will be buried in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery, Mt. Holly Springs, PA, next to her husband, Creedin on Saturday, October 29, 2022 following a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Westminster, Colorado, at a later date.
