Shirley L. Codner

June 7, 1938 — June 12, 2020

“Rejoice! I am gone home to be with my heavenly father, with heavy heart I leave you with my love.” Shirley Codner was released from the bonds of this life on June 12, 2020.
The daughter of Leroy A. Leonard and Ruby Marie (Crowell) born June 7, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA. Preceding her in death, John Edwin Dahl Jr.; her first husband and the father of her two daughters and by her devoted husband of 48 years Karl Richard Codner; two brothers Richard L. Leonard and his wife Earlene Taylor and Ronald L. Leonard (Lee Ann), her daughter Dalyce Rhea Frawley (Thomas J.). She is survived by daughter Julie Anne Dahl Travis (David A.), two sisters Linda M. Cichowski (Francis J.”Ski”) and Sandra J. Ream (Harry F. III “Bud”); five grandchildren: Laura E., Stephen J. (Elizabeth), Scott T. Frawley, Andrew J., and Grant M. Travis. Three great grandchildren: Zachary, Olivia, and Isabella; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins all over the country.
She was educated in California, attended college for data processing and accounting, earned a degree in Interior Design, was short of a bachelor’s degree of liberal studies at University of Evansville, IN. earning a place in the national honors society. Her work experiences varied greatly and included converting the Ag Extension Library to the Dewey Decimal System, in Tulare Co., CA; Fresno State College; Real estate; Interior Design; she also taught Interior Design classes at Vocational Technical College, Evansville, IN. She retired in 2008 from Ahold Financial Services, Carlisle, PA.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Chaplain Ed Rabenstein officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney, NY. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
