Sherryl Ann Sunday, 73, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born on September 17, 1949 in Carlisle to the late Wallace Alfred Reid and Dorothy Ann (Bartels) Keeley.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Carlisle, as well as her daughters, Heather Blanchard (Kerry), Erin English (Cole), and Hilary Gilbert (Patrick). She was the proud grandmother to Tyler Sunday, Jude English, and Nora English. She is further survived by her siblings, Gordon Reid, Douglas Reid, Barbara Weiser, Dawn Keeley, Ronald Keeley, and Dolly Keeley.
Sherry is preceded in death by her infant son, Gregory Thomas Sunday.
A self-described “Army brat,” Sherry spent her childhood in Germany, Pennsylvania, and Key Biscayne, FL. She loved being near the ocean and earned her PADI Open Water Diver certification in 1989. She drew inspiration from water, marine life, and all forms of nature for her art. Sherry began quilting in the 1980s, was the proprietor of Stitch by Stitch quilt shop, and later taught her unique fiber art techniques to students across the US.
Sherry loved to travel. A lifelong dream was realized in 1998 when she journeyed to Japan, inspired by art and cultural heritage. She also treasured her family trip to Grand Cayman and an extended road trip throughout the US, especially time spent in the Southwest. A dedicated mother, grandmother, and working artist, Sherry leaves behind a legacy of art, inspiration, and family memories. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and fellow creative spirits.
