Samuel Irvin Conrad

Samuel Irvin Conrad, 86, of Carlisle died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born June 7, 1925 in West Decatur, he was a son of the late Isaac Nelson and Mabel Elizabeth Johns Conrad and widower of his beloved wife, Anna Louise Everhart Conrad.
He was an architectural engineer for Bell Telephone and responsible for many of the Harrisburg Renewal Projects. His later years were devoted to art, writing and cabinetry. He was a member of Allison United Methodist Church and a member of Moshannon Lodge 0391 F. and A. M. of Philipsburg. He served his country during WW II as a US Navy Seabee. Samuel was extensively involved in church outreach projects to students of Dickinson College. He was an enthusiast of antique automobiles and a long standing and award winning member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America.
Surviving are one son, Lawrence Conrad of Carlisle; two daughters, Cathie Conrad MacArthur (and husband, Edward) of Harrisburg and Elizabeth Anne Payne (and husband, Paul) of Erie; four grandchildren, Robert L. Beers of Mechanicsburg, Andrea L. Beers of Emmaus, Mark S. Conrad of Oxford, UK and Lisa J. Contrad of Kuwait; one great-granddaughter, Andrianna Ayala; and one sister, Rev. Erma Shaw of West Decatur.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Allison United Methodist Church, 99 Mooreland Avenue, Carlisle with Rev. Dr. Paul Herring officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Crossings Benevolent Fund, 1 Longsdorf Way, Carlisle, PA 17015.
