Robert Lee Brownawell

Robert “Bob” L. Brownawell, 87, of Carlisle passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.

Born on October 8, 1932 in Shermans Dale, he was the son of the late William and Minnie (Sheriff) Brownawell.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a crane operator at Frog and Switch where he retired after 37 years of service and was a member of the Young’s United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed horses, hunting, riding snowmobile with his wife Lois, blockshoots and old cars, especially his 1966 Ford Fairlane which he drove every Sunday. He looked forward to his weekly Monday get together with friends at the Shermans Dale Diner. He always attended his children and grandchildren’s sporting events while they were growing up and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lois of Carlisle; sons, Dennis Brownawell (Bonnie) of Aspers, PA and Roger Brownawell (Colleen) of Lewisberry, PA; grandchildren, Lauren, Sara, Ashley, Shelby and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Rogan, Dexton, and Landen; sister, Betty Rhoads; and brothers, Jess and David Brownawell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Young’s United Methodist Church, 316 Burn Hill Road, Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
