Robert A. Ledane

Robert A. LeDane, 83, of Elizabethtown died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born July 29, 1928, in Huntsdale, he was a son of the late Thomas H. and Susan M. Miller LeDane.

He was a graduate of Carlisle High School.

Robert was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council and was a member of the choir. Robert was a member of Cumberland Star Lodge 197 F&AM, Carlisle; Harrisburg Consistory; and Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg. He was a scoutmaster of Troop 182, Middlesex, for 13 years.

He served on the municipal authorities of Middlesex Township and North Middleton Township for a total of 16 years. Robert was a U.S. Marine veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Joanne LeDane of Elizabethtown; three daughters, Beth Hurley (and husband, Tony) of Carlisle, Kim Filer (and husband, Kirk) of Mechanicsburg and Manani Pro (and husband, Gregory) of New Cumberland; three stepdaughters, Pam Brooks of Ohio, Brenda Gourdin of Pennsylvania and Susan Reichert of Florida; one brother, Daniel T. LeDane (and wife, Faye) of Texas; one half-brother, William Souders (and wife, Jane) of Carlisle; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances M. Heiser; three brothers, Hilden LeDane, Leroy LeDane and Nevin LeDane; and one sister, Frances Wenrich.

Memorial services will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 3, at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Richard A. Ruff officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
