Richard Alvin Stokes

Richard Alvin Stokes, 65, of Carlisle died Thursday February 26, 2015 at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.
He was born August 13, 1949 in Butler Pa. to the late Joseph and Veronica Benninger Stokes.
Richard received his Bachelor's Degree from Clarion University in Education, he received a Master's Degree from Shippensburg State College and also a second Masters Degree from Penn State University. Richard taught at the Big Spring Middle School for thirty years. He also worked at the Cumberland Golf Course for over twenty years in the pro shop and organizing many golf tournaments among his many duties at the golf course. Richard also coached the Varsity Boys and Girls golf team for the Big Spring High School from 2005 to 2012. He was also a member of The Carlisle Christian Missionary Alliance Church where he was also a church elder. He loved to go golfing and was an avid Duke Basketball fan.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Rhonda Stokes, of Carlisle; a daughter, Jessica Renee O'Brien and her husband Keven, Tampa FL; and a son, Richard Corwin Stokes, Orlando FL. He was preceded in death by a step-father, Albert Corwin Myers, M.D. and twin brothers, Patrick and Michael Stokes.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Carlisle Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 237 E. North St., Carlisle with Rev. Timothy Keller officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the church on Sunday.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, Carlisle Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 237 E. North St., Carlisle PA 17013.
