Raymond C. Hoover

Raymond C. Hoover, 88, of Carlisle, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born August 14, 1924 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Paul and Sarah Hoover and the widower of Helen May Bridge Hoover and Doris Gibson Hoover.
Ray was an employee of Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory for over 50 years, where he was a friend to all of his work family. He was formerly employed by G. Book Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle; Charles Myers Funeral Home, Camp Hill; Beetem Lumber Company, Carlisle; Federal Equipment Company, Carlisle. He also worked with his father as a carpenter building homes. Ray drove ambulance and worked for the PA Turnpike. He taught Sunday School at Triumph Church of God, Carlisle. He was a member of the Newburg Male Chorus. Ray was an active member of Carlisle First Church of God. He loved his cars, people and most of all his family.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Kipps (and husband, Cletus A. Jr.) of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Jeff Kipps of Carlisle and Jackie Musselman of Carlisle; one brother, William Hoover of Carlisle; one sister Betty Brogan of Philadelphia; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Marlin Hoover and one sister, Dorothy Richwine.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 219 N. Hanover St. Carlisle with Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
