R. Gerald "Jerry" Lackey

R. Gerald “Jerry” Lackey, 88, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was born August 25, 1929, in Carlisle, to the late Robert Cameron and Hazel (Bream) Lackey and was the widower of Phyllis L. (Line) Lackey..
Jerry honorably served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Farmers Trust Company before retiring as Assistant Vice President from Financial Trust Company. He was an active member of the Y’s Men’s Club, Carlisle Band, and he was also a member of the former First United Methodist Church. Jerry was a very talented musician whose primary instrument was the alto saxophone. Over the years he played in many regional combos and big bands. Jerry was a past Scout Master of Troop 160, past treasurer for March of Dimes, and he actively supported and gave to United Way and many other local charities.
He is survived by one son, Eric G. (wife Renee) Lackey of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter, Kimberly L. (husband Dennis) Stone of Boiling Springs; one brother, Reynold L. Lackey of Maplewood, NJ; and three granddaughters, Amanda K. Krammes of Bend, OR, Erika N. Lackey of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rebecca E. Lackey of Virginia Beach, VA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald B. Lackey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County, 142 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
