Peter A. Houghton

Peter A. Houghton, 68, of Carlisle, passed away on January 8, 2018.
Growing up on Long Island cultivated Pete’s love of all things nautical. He was a member of the White Rose model yacht club. Pete was an avid reader and enjoyed singing to loud music, despite not knowing the lyrics.
Pete was passionate about the youth he mentored at Diakon’s Flight program and was greatly impacted by the positive relationships he shared with the young men he served.
Pete was well known for his love of cargo pants, Sperrys and knowledge of World War II history and the America’s Cup. He always greeted his friends and family with a warm smile and a laugh.
Pete loved his family. His wife, Denise, and children Jennifer Yingling (Garth) of Lemoyne, PA, Hillary Moore (Michael) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Matthew Houghton (Kirsten), of Carlisle, PA, as well as his grandchildren Abigail, Andrew, Jake, Chase and Madison. His older brother Donald Houghton (Mabel) of Craftsbury Common, VT will miss him dearly. His parents, Donald and Helen Houghton of Glen Head, NY and his sister, Jean Houghton of New Haven, CT, preceded him in death.
Friends and family are welcome for visitation at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Cumberland County Historical Society, 21 North Pitt Street, Carlisle PA, 17013.
