Pearl Ethel Hoffman, 92, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle, with her loving family at her bedside.
Born June 29, 1920 in Pillow, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Cora Herb Tressler and the widow of Frederick H. Hoffman.
She was a 1938 graduate of Hegins High School. Pearl was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, where she attended the Augsburg Sunday School Class, was a member of WELCA, served on the Fellowship Committee, quilted, and helped with the peanut butter eggs. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, camping, baking, and was well known for her hand made braided rugs and award winning sugar cookies which family and friends received for birthdays, Christmas or other occasions. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are three daughters, Doris Vance of Gardners, Alice McQuillen Walsh (and husband, Kenneth) of Carlisle and Renee Swartz of Harrisburg; two sons, Gene Hoffman (and wife, Lynn) of Pinson, AL and Clair Hoffman (and wife, Deborah) of Duncannon; twelve grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marlin Tressler and Norman Herb; one sister, Helen Phillips; two sons-in-law, Eugene McQuillen and Roger Vance; one granddaughter, Annette Oyler; and one great-grandson, Matt Rynard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 West Louther Street, Carlisle with Rev. Timothy Sadler and Rev. Carol Bowman co-officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Church.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 West Louther Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
