Paul W. Shughart, 86, of Carlisle died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
He was born in Shippensburg on October 20, 1927 to the late Ross G. and Nora Bell (Smith) Shughart.
Paul was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1945 and Carlisle Commercial College. Over the years he worked several jobs including the US Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg and the US Army War College for over 30 years. He also worked at C.H. Masland & Sons, the former Carlisle Garment Factory and was a receptionist for Forest Park Health Center for 10 years. He also volunteered at Carlisle Hospital. Paul was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church where he was part of the Christmas Decorating Committee and also sang in the choir. Paul loved to travel. Among his many trips, he visited Europe, The Holy Land, Canada and most of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilda Jane (Handshaw) Shughart, a daughter, Cynthia Taylor of Delaware and two grandsons, Willard Taylor III and David Taylor, both of New York.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle with Reverend Susan Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shippensburg.
