Paul Joseph Shenk

Paul Joseph Shenk, 91, of Carlisle, PA, died on July 10, 2013 after a year-long illness. He was born on July 18, 1921 to Moses B and Ellen L Shenk of Hesston, KS
He graduated from high school, attended two years of college at Hesston Junior College and received a degree in education. He taught school in Hesston for a year.
He moved to PA in his early 20s and went to Penn State to take a Dairy Short Course where he was awarded a certificate of DHIA certifying him as a dairy tester.
He moved to Carlisle for a job where he met and married Blanche V Swarner, daughter of Earl B and Blanche E Swarner of Carlisle.
Paul was a Fuller Brush salesman in the community for over 60 years.. He served the Carlisle and Boiling Springs areas and was one of the oldest active salesmen for the company until his retirement several years ago.
He was an avid gardener and loved planting flowers of all kinds, especially his beloved roses.
He was a long time member of the Carlisle Church of the Brethren where he was active in choir and men's quartets and where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher
Paul and his wife were the parents of 3 daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche, 2 daughters, Carolyn Shenk Parrish ( husband Rick ) and Marcia Shenk Baer ( husband Irvin ), 3 grandchildren, Jason S Hollar ( wife Elizabeth ), Jennifer Kiser Romandy ( husband Eric ) and Michele Kiser Ross ( husband Chris ). Also by 2 great granddaughters, Kyra and Rachael Hollar, plus many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Shenk Kiser, and all seven of his sisters.
Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle
A Memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family.
