Norma Elaine Gayman

October 12, 1927 — June 10, 2017

Norma E. Gayman, age 89, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle. She was born October 12, 1927, in Newville, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond and Devona (Moffit) Heberlig.
Norma was a graduate of Big Spring High School. Norma and her classmates never failed to gather annually to celebrate their reunions. She was a homemaker for her two children and husband, and would provide office support for her husband’s business, Merle L. Gayman Well Drilling. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She also frequently swam at the YMCA. Norma’s favorite pastimes included playing cards, board games, and trivia games, at which she excelled. Norma enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts, and often donated many of her items to charity. Babysitting for her three grandchildren was also one of her greatest joys. Norma took pride in the fact that she was able to call herself a great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Merle L. Gayman; two children, Merlene (husband Paul) Marhevka, and Ted (wife Sharon) Gayman, all of Carlisle; grandchildren Nickie Marhevka, Chad Gayman, both of Carlisle, and Jordan Gayman of Newville; two great grandchildren, Cooper Gayman and Ava Gayman; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Heberlig Russell and Doris James.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 17013. Pastor Steve Motter will be officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Westminster Memorial Gardens.
