Mrs. Edgar J. (Joyce) G. Johnson, 77, of Carlisle, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born February 28, 1935, in Greensburg, PA. She was the youngest daughter of the late J. Howard and E. Lucile (Beahm) Barkley.
She and her husband, Edgar J. Johnson, were married in Somerset, PA January, 21, 1966. Mr. Johnson died May 6, 2006.
Mrs. Johnson was a forms designer in the Department of Labor and Industry, Employment Security for over 30 years in Harrisburg, PA.
She is survived by two nieces and two nephews and many cousins.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Greensburg, PA Church of the Brethren and attended: the First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle, PA; Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, Mechanicsburg, PA; Hanover Church of the Brethren, Hanover, PA and Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg, PA.
Her hobbies were metal detecting, gardening and genealogy. She belonged to the: Somerset County Historical Society, Kittochtinny (Franklin Co.) Historical Society and PARSE (Pa. Association of Retired State Employees).
She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three sisters: Louise (Barkley) Schwanke, Ruth Ann (Barkley) Galimbertie and Marilyn (Barkley) Marshall and one niece and one nephew.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., April 20, 2012 at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
