May 18, 1920 — August 3, 2014

Miriam A. "Lucy" Steinmetz, 94, of Carlisle died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Thornwald Home, Carlisle.
Born May 18, 1920 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Audrey Frey Adams and the widow of James Steinmetz.
Miriam "Lucy" Steinmetz was a lifelong resident of Carlisle. She was a former May Queen and drum majorette for Carlisle High School, graduating in the class of 1938. Miriam married her high school sweetheart, James Steinmetz. Together, they opened Steinmetz Photo Workshop and successfully ran it side by side for 50 years. When you entered their shop, you could count on a warm and engaging greeting from Miriam and one of their many beloved pets. Miriam loved to stay fit with lengthy walks around town and volunteered many hours at the Carlisle Hospital. As a devoted wife and mother, her favorite pastimes were travel adventures abroad and annual family vacations to the Outer Banks and Pine Grove. Miriam and Jim were married for 68 years and enjoyed many activities together such as shooting at the William Penn Pistol League, spending time with their friends, and dining out. In Miriam's 94 years of life she was able to share almost seven decades with her true love, travel the world, and see her family grow four generations strong.
Surviving are one daughter, Anne Westin (and husband, Jack) of Indiatlantic, FL; four grandchildren: Richard Alexander, Cindy Matney, Jessica Flinn and Jennifer Joseph; twelve great-grandchildren: Amber Earhart, Michael Alexander, Ella and Jacob Matney, Abigail, Jack, Isabella and Molly Flinn and Emma, Leah, Kyle and Anna Joseph and three great-great-grandchildren: Ava and Luke Earhart, and Elijah Alexander.
