Mildred B. Jones

Mildred B. Jones, 87 of Carlisle, and formerly of Shermans Dale, and a resident at Thornwald Home for the past 4 years, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the UPMC Pinnacle, Carlisle.
She was born May 20, 1931 in Plainfield, PA the daughter of the late Charles M. Swartz and Beryl I. Adams Swartz. She married Robert H. Jones on May 28, 1950; he preceded her in death on December 16, 2000.
Mildred was a member of the Carlisle Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed shopping and roller skating in her younger years.
She worked at Crystal Plant in Carlisle, as a nurse’s aide at Holy Spirit Hospital during the 70’s and was a housewife and foster parent to many children. Family would like to thank the Therapy Department at Thornwald Home, especially nurses’ aides; Ashley, Jessica, Kim, Jen and others
Mildred is survived by her children: Robert C. Jones and his wife, Linda of New Bloomfield, Thomas E. Jones and his wife Darlene of Shermans Dale, Donna Derr and her husband Tom of Berrysburg, PA and Alan Jones and his companion Jackie of Elliotsburg, PA, six grandchildren, Shaun Jones, Jeff Jones, Melissa McConnell, Chad Comp, Brad Comp and Stacy Harris, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother: Marlin Swartz and his wife Marilyn of Camp Hill, PA
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant, Ronald Jones, brother: Robert C. Swartz and her sister-in-law: Betty Swartz.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA, with the Pastor Paul Wasmer, officiating.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM until time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Longsdorf Cemetery.
