Mary A. Cornelius

Mary A. Cornelius, age 94, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 in Carlisle.
She was born on April 10, 1921 in New Brighton, PA to the late Clarence G. and Ethel Dewhirst Geiser and was the widow of the late Wayne A. Cornelius to whom she was happily married for 65 years.
Mary graduated from Geneva College and taught 2nd grade at Patterson Township Elementary School for 24 years. She loved children and animals and was an avid reader. She was dedicated to her lifelong love, Wayne, with whom she shared everything. She was very proud of her family and was a strong believer in women's rights. Everyone who knew Mary appreciated her determination and tenacity. Mary was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star, both in Beaver Falls, PA.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne A. Cornelius, Jr. and his spouse, Jer Rahn of Portland, OR and Mark Cornelius and his spouse, David Wallwork of Walnut Creek, CA; a daughter, Debra Cornelius and her husband, Paul Marchetti of Carlisle; daughter-in-law, Ann Craig of Solana Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Kathleen Marchetti and her husband Ben Bagozzi, Meg Marchetti and Craig Cornelius; and a great-grandchild, Zach Cornelius. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Geiser.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Route 68, Rochester, PA.
