Martha V. Scherb, 94, of Carlisle, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
Born August 8, 1918 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Chester R. and Zula B. Bear Wetzel and the widow of Bernard Scherb.
She retired from Kinney Shoe, Carlisle. Martha was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Ladies Auxiliary, Carlisle and the Plainfield Grangers for over 60 years. She was a member of Mt. Holly Springs Church of God.
Surviving are three nieces, Karon M. Keesman, Kimberly S. Wetzel, and Jolene Gregor (and husband, Thomas) all of Carlisle; one nephew, Kenneth Wetzel (and wife, Carol) of Carlisle; one great niece, Tammy Gitt (and husband, Ted) of Shippensburg; and three great nephews, Keith Derr, Jason Wetzel (and wife, Melanie) both of Carlisle, and Justin Wetzel (and wife, Ashley) of Camp Hill. Also six great-great nieces and nephews, Jeremiah, Caleb, Bethany, Mackenzie, Danielle, and Courtney. She was preceded in death by her brother Lonas Wetzel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Eagles Auxiliary Hart Fund, 26 East High Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
