Martha E. Strine

Martha E. Strine, age 93, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Thornwald Home, Carlisle.
She was born July 16, 1923 in Carlisle to the late Samuel A. and Ida R. (Keck) Sipe and was the widow of the late James A. Strine, Sr. who passed away in 1993.
Martha was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God, was a former Sunday school teacher and opened her home to women's Bible studies. She was a seamstress at Strine's Tailor Shoppe.
She is survived by her son, James A. (and wife Trudy) Strine II of Carlisle; granddaughter, Nadeen (and husband John) Bogonis of Carlisle; great-granddaughter, Halle Bogonis; a brother, Richard (and wife Pauline) Sipe of Carlisle; and a sister, Vesta Bear of Carlisle. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by sisters and brother, Sarah Shambaugh, Clara Derrick, Grace Sites, Mae Mayberry, Romayne Yohn, Florence Sipe, Robert Sipe and Louise Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Michael R. Poe officiating. Burial will be at Westminster Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
