Marian M. Murtorff

Marian M. Murtorff, 82, of Carlisle, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 30, 1930 in York County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Helen Kuhn Meals.
She was a graduate of Newville High School in 1949. Marian worked with her husband in the Murtorff Construction Company, Inc. as secretary and bookkeeper. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle and an associate member of Oneco United Methodist Church, Bradenton, FL. She was a very gifted artist who especially excelled in oil painting. Marian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed traveling; including spending six months a year, for the past 14 years, in their home in Bradenton, FL, where she enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Melvin O. Murtorff of Carlisle; four children, Benjamin A. Murtorff (and wife, Isabel) of Carlisle, Linda A. Trostle (and husband, Denny) of Frewsburg, NY, Michael A. Murtorff of Waterford, VT, and Debra M. Andros (and husband, Dane) of Newbury Park, CA; three sisters, Verna George (and husband, Dale) of Carlisle, Lucille Snook of Millersburg, and Nancy Zeigler of Newville; twelve grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 4:27 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Red Mount Cemetery.
