Margaret R. Hertzler, 95 of Carlisle, died Sunday December 26, 2010 in her home.
            Born August 2, 1915 in Carlisle, the daughter of the late Austin B. and Emma Woodward Hertzler.
            Margaret was a 1938 graduate of Carlisle High School.  She attended Carlisle Commercial College and was employed by the Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Traffic Safety.  She worked for Dr. Edward Kronenberg and Dr. James Prescott as a receptionist.  She was a member of First United Church of Christ and the YWCA.  A charter member of the local AARP and the Bonnybrook Riding Club.  Ms. Hertzler volunteered over 1000 hours as a nurses aide during WWII and traveled with her brother and sister-in-law who were in the military to set up and care for their children and households.  At one time she was an archery champion ranked 9th nationally.  She was an avid bird watcher.
            Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Lobato, with whom she lived, Sam Hertzler and John Hertzler, both of Carlisle, Sue Hertzler Geery, Connecticut, Austin Hertzler, Carlisle, Robert Campbell, Philadelphia, Mary Beth Prosapio, New Mexico, Michael Campbell, San Antonio, TX, Patricia Frey, Carlisle and numerous great nieces and nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the First United Church of Christ, 30 North Pitt Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Lynn R. Schultz officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown.  There will be a visitation from 10:00 am Friday until the service at the church.
            Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
