Luther “Lute” E. Dinges, 87, of Gardners, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 9, 2011 at his home.
Born March 18, 1924 in New Market, VA, he was a son of the late James and Pearl Crissman Dinges.
Luther played guitar for almost 70 years and met most of his friends at various jam sessions around Carlisle. He was the owner of Lute’s TV and Radio Repair, where he worked from the 1960’s until he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle and loved hunting.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Trudy Dinges; two daughters, Doris Blosser (and husband, Robert) of Carlisle and Brenda Smitherman (and husband, Steve) of Liverpool; one son, Luther E. Dinges, Jr. (and wife, Helen) of York; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Beverly Gene Dinges.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. David Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at the funeral home.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
