Lucy Marie Case

Lucy Marie Case, 83, of Carlisle, and formerly of Shippensburg, PA and Jackson, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 11, 1935 in Farmingdale Borough, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Wilbur F. (Jake) Estelle and Elizabeth (Elsie) Maushagen Estelle. She married William Case Sr.; He preceded her in death in 1999.
Being a native of Farmingdale, New Jersey, she attended schools there and in Freehold, New Jersey. She and her late husband raised their family in Freehold. Lucy was involved with the Methodist Churches in Farmingdale, Freehold and Jackson, New Jersey. She served on various committees of the DeBows Methodist Church in Jackson: was a Trustee, Senior Choir member singing soprano, and involved in outreach before leaving to move to Shippensburg, PA in 2006.
Both Lucy and her husband William were co-editors of The Southwind Towncrier in Jackson. She had served as secretary, vice-president, and later President of The Southwind Community Association. She and legal committee affected many changes in Southwind in the early part of 2000-2001
Lucy is survived by her three sons: Edwin Case and his wife Hanh of Lakewood, NJ, Thomas Case of Mt Holly Sprigs, PA, William A. Case Jr. and his wife Sue of Carlisle, PA, her daughter: Sharon Gravatt and her husband Tom of Denton, NC, her son-in-law, Dan Moyer of Athens, LA, eight grandchildren: Matthew Moyer of Bossier, LA, Nicole Case of Carlisle, PA, Brad Shultz of Carlisle, PA, Sara Battaglia and her husband Gregg of California, MD, Andrew Case and his wife, Breanne of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Erin Gravatt of Jackson, NJ, Eileen Gravatt of Point Pleasant, NJ, Phuc Nguyen of Lakewood, NJ, five great-grandchildren: Olivia Case, Zachary Case, Christopher Case, Fiona Battaglia and Madison Battaglia.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucy was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Moyer, a brother, Wilbur Estelle, a grandson, Edwin Case Jr. and her step-father: Chet Radowski
Services will be private. Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
