Lt. Col. (RET.) Thomas E. "Tim" Morrow, U.S.M.C., died suddenly on Thursday, December 24, 2014 at his residence.
Thomas Edward "Tim" Morrow, 84, was born March 2, 1930 in Frankfort, PA to the late Edward and Grace (Kernighan) Morrow of Philadelphia.
He graduated from Abington Township High School in 1947 and attended The University of Pennsylvania on a swimming scholarship. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve and graduated from US Naval Flight training in Pensacola, FL, and then chose to enter the Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator. His military career spanned 25 years and he participated in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He served additional tours of duty at; USMC Quantico, VA, US Naval Air Station, Meridian, MS, Quonset Point, RI and Antarctica during "Operation Deep Freeze".
He was elected to Constable in Dauphin County and was associated with the March of Dimes, Susquehanna Mobile Communications and did private detective work for a number of years.
He was a member and secretary of Keystone Chapter of the Retired Officers Association, a member of First United Church of Christ in Carlisle, where he sang in the choir for 20 years and the Elks, Carlisle Lodge #578.
He was an avid golfer, bowler and writer with several pieces published for Flying Magazine. His favorite activity in later years was walking his beloved Sheltie "Abby".
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Hollar) Morrow, daughter, Melanie Marie Morrow and her partner Steven Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Richard Morrow and a sister, Joan Morrow Morrison.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at First United Church of Christ, 30 N. Pitt Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Chris Schwab officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Furry Friends Network, PO Box 519, Boiling Springs, PA 17007 or First United Church of Christ, 30 N. Pitt Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
