Lee Richard Snyder, age 83, of Carlisle passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Church of God Home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Carlisle on November 3, 1932 to the late James and Minnie Nickel Snyder.
Lee graduated from the former Newville High School, Class of 1951. He was always proud to say that he was from Bloserville. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Lee became a part time Minister in 1969 and went to full time in 1970 and continued full time until his retirement in 1996. He was recognized for 40 years of service in 2009 at the Eastern Regional Churches of God Conference where he had been the former President of the conference in 1987. Lee also worked at the former Carlisle Tire and Wheel for 19 years. He was a member of Carlisle First Church of God, Carlisle. He will be remembered as a handyman who could fix anything.
He is survived by his caring wife of 62 years, Ruth Gibson Snyder of Carlisle; two sons, Daniel (and wife Christine) Snyder of Tyrone and Samuel Snyder of Carlisle; two daughters, Diane (and husband John) Blyler of Spring Glen and Joy (and husband Douglas) Linebaugh of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Carl Snyder of VA and Ray Snyder of Newville; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Huth; grandson, Timothy Snyder; half-brother Ralph Webb; and a sister, Frances Fry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in North Middleton Church of God Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a viewing at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church on Thursday.
