Lee Etter Vanasdlen

Lee Etter Vanasdlen, 86, of Newville, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA.
He was born June 3, 1928 in W. Pennsboro Township to the late George Isaac and Mary B. Etter Vanasdlen.
Lee retired from the Commonwealth of PA in the Governor's Office of Administration as an accountant and also Business Administrator. He served under Governors Thornburg and Casey. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle; member and past exulted ruler of the Elks Lodge # 578; BPOE of Carlisle; Carlisle Eagle Aerie Lodge #1299; Shippensburg Miniquale Club; Cumberland Star Lodge #197; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Temple; Cumberland County Luncheon Club; Harrisburg Luncheon Club and Steelton Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sara Elizabeth Gruver Vanasdlen of Green Village, Newville; two sons, Joseph B. Vanasdlen and his partner James R. Sloan of Mt. Holly Springs and Keith Vanasdlen; three sisters, Cecelia Fulton, Naomi Helms and Norma "Kay" Phillips, all of Shippensburg; four brothers, Paul Vanasdlen of Millerstown, Glenn Vanasdlen of Carlisle, Robert Vanasdlen of Enola, and Ronald Vanasdlen of Chicago, IL; one grandchild; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Vanasdlen and Anna Vaughn and three brothers, Clyde, John and Roy Vanasdlen.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Green Ridge Village, 210 Big Spring Road, Newville, PA with Rev. Jim Abe officiating. His brother, Ronald, will deliver the eulogy. There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Green Ridge Village.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
