Kenneth W. Macdonald

Kenneth W. MacDonald, age 87, of Carlisle, died on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Cumberland Crossings Nursing Center.
He was born in Derry, NH on March 9, 1928 to the late Edgar F. MacDonald and Gladys Young MacDonald. He was the husband of Patricia Townley MacDonald of Carlisle. They were married on October 26, 1952 in Troy, New York.
After graduating from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, Ken earned his B.A. in history from Norwich University in Northfield, VT. Ken served in the U.S. Army for 20 years in Military Intelligence serving in campaigns throughout Europe and the Far East. Ken was a member of the Shippensburg American Legion, Post #223. Ken enjoyed fishing, gardening, and wood working. He had a special affinity for people and was an instant friend to everyone he met. He also loved animals, especially dogs, including his "buddy", Katie.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia. Also surviving are a daughter Linda L. Plante (Dean); four grandchildren, Sean M. Plante, Heather N. Coniglio (Paul), Ryan M. Plante (Victoria) and Haleigh A. Plante; a sister Phyllis Patten, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and his parents.
A private service will be held at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory and private interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery also at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way # 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110 and Cumberland Crossings Benevolent Fund, 1 Longsdorf Way, Carlisle, PA 17015.
