Kenneth Richard Trephan

Kenneth “Skipâ€Â Richard Trephan, 78, of Carlisle, passed at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
Born September 5, 1933 in Kane, PA, a son of the late Henry and Maude Miller Trephan.
He was a graduate of John Harris High School and attended Shippensburg University. He retired from Certanium Alloys and Research Company as a district sales manager. Kenneth was a US Navy veteran who served for four years during the Korean War. He was a member of the former Cosmopolitan Club, a member of Camp Curtain Historical Society, Civil War Round Table, American Legion 109 of Mechanicsburg, VFW post 715, New Cumberland and a member of Second United Church of Christ, Harrisburg. He loved traveling; hunting; and civil war reenactment. He was also an avid reader and shopper. Ken’s personality was bigger than life. You always knew when he was in the room. He’ll be sadly missed.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Celtic Hospice for their kindness, compassion and excellent care for Ken and Mary.
Surviving are his spouse of 45 years, Mary Trephan of Carlisle; four children, Lisa Patrick of NC, Brenda Yetter-Thurston and Lynda Tripi of NY, Mark Trephan of Lemoyne, three grandchildren, Sam Patrick, Rachel and Amanda Knapp; one brother, Michael Trephan of Mechanicsburg, one sister, Anita Gross of Dauphin and numerous nieces and nephews. Also Kasey and Emmo his two faithful dog companions.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Timothy D. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Celtic Hospice, 220 Wilson Street, Suite 100, Carlisle, PA 17013.
