Karl E. Shepley, 81, of Carlisle, passed away at Thornwald Home, Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
Born August 22, 1929 in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Harvey Shepley and Lillian “Shepleyâ€Â Lilly.
He retired from Kinney Shoe Co. and the White Circle Club of Carlisle. He attended the Great Hope Baptist Church, Carlisle. Karl was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299; American Legion Post 101; Amvets Post 0274; Elks BPO Dodge; and a life member of the VFW Post 477 and the White Circle Lodge, all of Carlisle. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Fannie M. Shepley, two sons, Karl S. Shepley of Brooklyn Park, MD and Steven Shepley, and a daughter, Kimberly Titus, two step-sons, Harry L. Wilson, Jr. of Landisburg and Timothy F. Wilson of Shermans Dale, several grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Also surviving are his sister, Lois Matter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russel Shepley and two sisters, Jean Zeiders and Ethel Murrey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Pastor Dale E. Barrick officiating. Burial will be in Landisburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
