John N. "Jack" Cullings

November 20, 1922 — February 6, 2017

Beloved Father and Grandfather, John N. "Jack" Cullings, age 94, of Carlisle, went to Heaven to join his Holy Father on Monday, February 6, 2017. He passed at his residence with his loving daughter and granddaughter by his side.
He was born November 20, 1922 in Carlisle to the late Mervin R. and Ella (Steele) Cullings and was the widower of Harriet A. (Miller) Cullings who passed June 30, 2001.
Jack retired from the United States Postal System on February 28, 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a World War II US Army Air Corp veteran serving with the 8th Airborne in Africa and England and in the Middle Eastern Campaign. Jack received the Good Conduct medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church, now Carlisle United Methodist Church, and its Sunday school class for over 70 years and was Captain of the Ushers Group for many years. He was also a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game Association and the Cumberland Star Lodge #197 F&AM.
He is survived by: a daughter, Lisa (and husband Mel) Cullings-Polk of Mason, TX; and two granddaughters, Rachel K. Yount of Mason, TX and Taylor Clee-Charlton of San Marcos, TX. In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Kim E. Cullings; four sisters, Bertha Hertzler, Hollis Fuehrer, and Velva and Revenda Cullings; and two brothers, Richard and Gordon Cullings.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA with his Pastor, Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating with full military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle, PA. A gathering of friends and family will follow the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
