John L. "Jack" Zaengle, 88, of Carlisle passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at home.
He was born on September 22, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA to the late George and Margaret Mulligan Zaengle.
Jack was the loving husband of the late Marjorie "Mag" Fauzio Zaengle, who preceded him in death in 2020.
Jack and Mag were longtime members of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.
Jack was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association. He served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 26 years, spending most of his career stationed at the Carlisle Barracks. He also served as an underwater criminal investigator for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and volunteered with the New Cumberland River Rescue. Jack was the recognized expert in the region for this work.
He is survived by two daughters, Samantha Zaengle, of Carlisle and Teresa Kumler, of New Cumberland; a son John S. Zaengle (wife Natalie), of Boiling Springs; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, and fellow Pennsylvania State Trooper, Thomas Zaengle.
Memorial services will be held at noon, Saturday, November 11 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
