John "Jake" Carroll

July 13, 1939 — March 23, 2016

John "Jake" Carroll, age 76, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center following a third occurrence of cancer.
He was born on July 13, 1939 in Pottsville, PA and was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Kozura Carroll.
John graduated from Cass Township High School in Schuylkill County in 1957 and entered the Pennsylvania State Police Academy on December 1, 1960. He faithfully served the Commonwealth until his retirement as Corporal in Newville on January 3, 1992. John was a proud member of the Carlisle Gun Club, the William Penn Pistol League, the NRA, SASS (Cowboy Action Shooting), Perry County Regulators and Trout Unlimited. He was an avid fly fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cole Carroll; a brother, Andrew Carroll, his wife Esther, and their two daughters, Susette and Judy.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Donations to help defray medical expenses and end of life costs can be made payable to The Estate of John Carroll and can be mailed c/o Allied Attorneys of Central PA, LLC, 61 W Louther Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
