John H. "Jack" Bowers

John H. "Jack" Bowers, age 71, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.
He was born on January 11, 1945 in Kittanning, PA to the late Wilbur S. and Hazel Hayes Bowers.
Jack was a graduate of Bucknell University and enjoyed a long, successful career in banking. He most recently was with Orrstown Bank, Carlisle, PA where he retired in 2011. He also served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Jack was very proud of his communities, here in Carlisle and Pawleys Island, SC, and he cherished both his personal and professional relationships in both locations. He was a longtime member of Carlisle United Methodist Church and Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown, SC. Jack was a loyal husband to the love of his life, Jeanne, to whom he was married for 47 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Thomason Bowers of Carlisle; two children, Amy (and husband Kevin) Wilson of Marietta, GA and Sam (and wife Nicole) Bowers of Dublin, OH; and five grandsons, Jack, Owen, Sammy, Noah and Ben.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Mira A. Hewlett and Rev. James E. Van Zandt co-officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
