John H. Buchenauer

John H. Buchenauer, 67, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at his home.

Born on December 5, 1951 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Peter Buchenauer, Sr. and Ethel (Zeiders) Buchenauer.

John was a 1971 graduate of Carlisle High School and an Aviation Electrician Mate in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an electrician at the Army Depot in New Cumberland and Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg retiring in 2013. He was the owner of John H. Buchenauer Electric for 10 years. John loved riding his Harley motorcycles. He enjoyed taking day trips on his motorcycle to 3B’s for his favorite ice cream “Moosetracks”, Schmidt’s sausages and Zimmerman’s Candy Store. If he wasn’t riding his motorcycle, he could be found tinkering in his garage. He was a fabulous storyteller sharing a good story with anyone that would listen. John was a lifelong member of the North Middleton Volunteer Fire Company.

John is survived by his brother, Peter Buchenauer, Jr. of Carlisle; sister, Erma (Robert) Lininger of Carlisle; nieces, Carrie (Jason) Lebo and their daughter Braelyn; Mistie (Brian) Reichenbach and their children, Seth and Delsea Cvijic and Xavier and Maleki Reichenbach; nephews, Mike (Renee) Buchenauer and their children Tyler and Makayla Buchenauer and Mark Hess, and Chad (Michelle) Lininger and their children Aiden and Kylie, family friend, Dani Costa (Terry Robinson) of Carlisle; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Michael Algoso. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Buchenauer.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dr. Richard E. Denison, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Waggoners United Methodist Church Cemetery following the service. The viewings will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
