Joanne R. Rossiter

Joanne R. Rossiter, 75, of Carlisle passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her residence.

Born on February 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophia (Kaplan) Lewandowski. She was the loving wife of R. Denis Rossiter.

Joanne received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Cabrini University. She loved her career as a teacher and retired after 40 years of teaching from St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Joanne and Denis enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, and earlier in life, camping trips in a tent with their children. She was quite an artist and enjoyed creating porcelain dolls. She was also an avid NY Rangers fan. Her love for the sport made her a great “hockey mom” as she traveled with her son’s hockey team.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Denis; daughter, Jenny of Carlisle; son, Greg of Carlisle; grandson, Ryan; and a cousin, Kenneth Dirsa.

There will be a visitation in the Narthex of St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 9:30am – 10:30am. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am with Rev. Martin O. Moran as the Celebrant. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass. Burial will be held at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
