Jere Israel, 80, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in his home.
He was born July 14, 1939 in Lancaster to the late Frank and Annie (Reineer) Israel.
Jere enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, throwing horseshoes and being outdoors in general. He loved to cook, play the lottery and watch WWE. Jere was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, Mason Dixon Chapter. He honorably served his country in the US Navy. During his time in the service, he made thirteen trips to Cuba. Jere boxed during his service in the Navy and taught children boxing through the Police Athletic League of Carlisle. Over the years Jere worked many different jobs. He was most proud of helping with the construction of Three Mile Island and the work he did as the owner of Thru Window Cleaning of Central PA.
Jere is survived by seven children, Tammy (husband Gary) Herr of Pittsburgh, Tammie Queen of Florida, Tonya Fitzpatrick of Maine, Jere (wife Amy) Israel of Maine, Jeremiah Lecrone of Florida, Rachel Israel of Ohio, and Sheri (husband Dale) Israel of Carlisle; 22 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Kennedy; one son, Larry Frederick; one grandson, Evan Queen; and one brother, Frank Israel.
A celebration of Jere’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at New Life Community Church, 64 East North Street Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
